When a life is on the line...

The Dickinson County Communications Center handles all 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls for Dickinson County. The center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week and dispatches for all law enforcement agencies, fire departments and ambulance services in Dickinson County. The communications center employs eight full-time and two part-time dispatchers.

As a part of the new courthouse project, the communications center underwent a massive upgrade including an all new radio system and new computer servers for handling and dispatching 9-1-1 calls. Also included is new workstation furniture that raises and lowers to allow the dispatcher to work in either a standing or sitting position. The center expanded from a one and one-half position center, occupying about 178 square feet; to two and one-half positions in an area that is approximately 770 square feet.

Positions one and two in the new Communications Center.
